With London and New York fashion weeks showcasing the key trends for Spring/Summer 2014, I want to show you how you can wear this seasons key trends, at any size. It is easy to feel as a plus size woman that you can’t follow the trends but with more and more high street brands offering plus size ranges that are influenced by the catwalk there is no better time to step outside your comfort zone and be on the cutting edge of fashion, something you might not have thought was possible. Here I have picked 5 of the key trends hot off the catwalk.
Floral’s for spring is hardly ground breaking but some of the top fashion designers such as Burberry, Dior, House of Holland, Marc Jacobs and Christopher Kane were big on floral on the catwalk. However the prints have gone bright and bold, gone is the cutesy floral prints we are used to. Team with edgy attitude and off beat accessories.
90’s fashion was a bit hit on the catwalk this season and a 90’s staple is making a comeback, logo print, fashion is literally make a statement. Alexander Wang, DKNY and Kenzo showcased many different takes on the trends. From all over logo print to a simple one word slogan.
Transparency is key once again this season as designers continue to persuade us to flash the flesh. Sheer fabrics were used by designers from Preen to Calvin Klein and Fyodor Golan. Wear with a sweatshirt on cooler days or a boxy crop top for summer.
This trend fits perfectly with the effortless and romantic mood of SS14. No matter whether you’re wearing a lace garment or a lace fashion accessory, let the lace star, and don’t try to pile on other lace garments or accessories. Wear a lace top with jeans or a pencil skirt to maintain a sleek look.
Another trend tapping into the 90’s revival. Embrace your inner Rolling Stones Fan and you’ll be on your merry way to tapping into one of the season’s most hard core looks. If in doubt, paint it black and make it leather.
