We can’t get enough of all the big and bold trends that are around at the moment, but as ever, not every trend suits every person and sometimes they can be hard to pull off. But there’s one mini-trend that has caught our eye recently, and it’s one that we love because literally anyone can wear it and there’s no need for a shopping spree to create a whole new look (although we’d never say ‘no’ to a shopping spree’) – all it takes is one purchase and you’ve got the trend nailed.
It’s the Peter Pan collar. They’re popping up everywhere, and the best thing is that you can be as bold or as subtle as you like. Don’t be put off by the name, there’s nothing childish about this look – it’s a sophisticated style and the collar detail smartens up even the simplest top or dress.
So to get started with this look, we’ve picked just some of our favourite Peter Pan collars that are available online at the moment:
This AWear top combines the ever-popular striped trend with a lace Peter Pan collar, somehow hitting three trends in one go while still keeping it stylish. The collar is a focus because of the different texture but the matching neutral colour keeps it simple and sweet.
This Vila dress is perfect for Autumn thanks to the rich colour and three quarter sleeves. The Peter Pan collar in a matching shade adds a touch more detail but doesn’t take over the whole look. It’s a perfect example of how to do a trend and not let it overpower an outfit, in the same way that this Yumi dress keeps the focus on the pretty floral design but makes sure it’s on-trend thanks to the neckline.
There’s something very 70’s about a Peter Pan collar, and this Love Label tunic captures that look perfectly by combining the collar and button front detail with the very 70’s contrasting tan shades. Add opaque tights and some killer platforms to complete the look.
And finally, this Love Label Tie Collar blouse shows the Peter Pan collar at it’s boldest, contrasting black and white for maximum impact and adding in a cute tie detail to give it a real vintage effect.
So whatever your style we’re sure you’d agree that this really is a trend for everyone, and with so many ways of wearing the look and a variety of gorgeous designs available, we can’t think of a better way of updating our wardrobe as we make our way into the new season.
