We’re sure Kat Von D is a name many of you are familiar with. And if it’s not, then we think it soon will be.
Kat Von D is one very busy and very talented lady. Most famous for being an acclaimed tattoo artist and star of reality show L.A Ink, Kat also has an exclusive make up range for Sephora, a top 20 selling fragrance, she’s had two published books which have both appeared in the top ten New York Times Best-Seller list, and last year wrapped her first film, The Bleeding’, last year alongside our very own Vinnie Jones.
We need a sit down after just thinking about all that work, but she’s not stopped there as this year sees her take on the world of fashion, and we’re very pleased to say that her first range is available on Littlewoods.com!
The range takes inspiration from famous, passionate historical romances, as well as Kat’s personal library of historical objects, and the resulting collection is full of dramatic, detailed and structured pieces – almost like something you’d see in a film, but completely wearable and perfect for Autumn Winter 2011. It’s clearly a range that reflects Kat’s own style and is full of character, exactly what we expected to see from this multi-talented lady!
The structured Beethoven jacket is one of our favourites for the new season, there are so many details and quirky touches that we don’t know where to begin! The structured shoulders, nipped in waist and double button rows are made to flatter any figure, and the split tails at the back give it a nod to Victorian style.
The Empress Lace dress is a fabulous evening look and would be perfect for Christmas parties (it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas outfits!) The body con style and subtle shoulder pads give a slight nod to the 80s, and the long sleeves and lace detail give it a sophisticated, almost regal look that would look gorgeous with opaque tights, but equally stunning with bare legs, making it the perfect dress to see you through the often awkward transition in to Autumn.
The soft, luxurious fabric of this Peacock sweater is balanced out by the rip details, giving it a slight rock chick look. The neutral colour really does go with anything and it can be dressed up or down as much as you like – it’s a real versatile piece which is something we all want in our wardrobe!
Our final top pick is this wool mix military coat. It’s getting more into Winter territory, but it’s definitely one that we’d snap up now before it’s too late, because we think this is going to be on lots of wish lists this season. Everyone loves a military coat, and this one ticks all the boxes for us. The colour, the chain details, the double buttons – it all combines in to a coat that we’re sure we’d never want to take off.
And that’s pretty much our feeling about the whole of Kat Von D’s new range – she’s a fabulous tattoo artist and her creativity spills over very nicely into her fashion range. If you ask us, Kat Von D is one to watch…
