When we heard the rumours that Robbie Williams was launching his own clothing line, to say we were excited was an understatement. Then when we heard that not only were the rumours true, but that his range was going to be available from Littlewoods.com, we couldn’t contain ourselves and decided to share it will you all now, even though the range isn’t available to buy until September (stick it in your diaries so you don’t miss out).
The label is named Farrell, after Robbie’s grandfather, Jack Farrell, who also provided much of the inspiration behind the designs, influencing the classic pieces and vintage touches that run through the collection. Jack Farrell was central to Robbie’s upbringing in Stoke, and was a role model throughout most of his childhood, passing on not just his good manners and sense of humour, but clearly also his sense of style!
A strong sense of good old British style runs throughout the collection, with a mixture of sharp one-button dinner jackets and smart shirts (with a bit of a twist, of course), and a selection of more dressed down styles including chunky knitwear, jeans and even more traditional pieces such as pea coats and flat caps. All very British, all very Robbie.
The collection is understated, with no labels, logos or messaging to detract from the design, and we love the touches of humour that make up the details of the range – a secret pocket for the bus fare home? You don’t get much more British than that! As ever, it’s all in the detail, and they really are the perfect finishing touches to this well-rounded and exciting collection.
So the only problem is that you’ll have to wait until September to see the full collection. The good news is that before then we’ll give you a sneak peek of the collection with the first of three videos featuring three of Robbie’s friends, who are wearing outfits from the Farrell collection while they explain the story of Farrell from the place where it all started, Robbie’s hometown of Stoke. There are two more videos to follow before the launch of the collection, so watch this space, as we think Farrell is set to be the next big thing in British menswear.
