Where to start with 3D TV

Where to start with 3D TV

Television is one form of entertainment that has evolved rapidly over the past few years, and it’s easy to get left behind when there seems to be something new coming on to the market nearly every day.  The list is endless when it comes to bigger and better features that are considered ‘must haves’ in our living rooms, and you can’t get much bigger and better than the latest development of 3D TV.

It feels like 3D films were only recently brought to the masses, with the likes of Avatar wowing everyone at cinemas across the country, and it seems that 3D TV has followed fairly quickly. With the prospect of having that cinematic experience in your own home, albeit on a slightly smaller scale, it’s no wonder 3D TV is set to become that latest must-have in our living rooms.

So for those of you who are umm-ing and ahh-ing over whether to buy into this new wave of technology, here’s our quick overview help you make a decision…

Samsung, Panasonic and LG are three of the major brands bringing this technology into our homes, and all three have their advantages so it just depends what you’re looking for.  If it’s all about screen size for you, then this Samsung 63inch 3D plasma TV is a winner and will be the ultimate experience in home viewing (just make sure you have enough space for it!)  The glasses don’t come too cheap, but there are plenty of options to buy a TV and glasses package, such as this Panasonic 42 inch which comes with two pairs of 3D glasses and also has a great saving if you buy it with a Blu-ray DVD player. So it’s well worth checking out each option to get the best value and package for your needs.

The thing to remember about 3D TVs is that they aren’t a one-trick pony, you won’t have to have a separate TV for watching Coronation Street – they have fantastic high definition 2D capabilities as well, so if you’re looking for a new television anyway then it would be worth considering the upgrade to a 3D.

As for what to watch on your 3D TV, it’s fair to say that unless you’re a big sports fan, 3D television doesn’t have lots to offer at the moment.  But the 3D TV is all about the big experience, the kind that you only get from a big blockbuster movie, and luckily there are an increasing amount of 3D DVDs coming on to the market now. So pair your 3D TV with a 3D Blu-ray player, which will also boost the performance on your standard Blu-ray DVDs , or go all out with a Blu-ray home cinema kit – all you need is popcorn and someone rustling sweet wrappers and you’ll actually think you’re at the cinema rather than your own living room.

So if you’re a film buff and just can’t get enough of the whole cinema experience, then 3D TV is the way forward for you. And the most exciting thing is that this is just the beginning – there’s much more to come from both 3D TV and Littlewoods, so watch this space!!
