We all know the feeling, everywhere we look we’re being told about the latest trends for the new season, everything looks so lovely and fresh and new, but there are two questions we always have to ask ourselves: what can I afford and how would I ever wear that trend and make it look good?
The second point is a tricky one – we love the trends on the models and in the magazine, but those outfits are created to inspire us, not necessarily to wear in our everyday life. So it can be difficult knowing what to buy and how to put together outfits that work for us.
When it comes to budget, the important thing to remember is that whatever the trend and however expensive it looks in those magazines, it is always easy to get the look for much less, whether you can afford to have a bit of a splurge or are on a quest to save, save, save!
So our new feature in the February issue of LW Style is about as useful as it gets for this dilemma – Budget versus Blowout takes four of the top trends for Spring and shows you what to buy and how to accessorise, whether you’re on a budget or are treating yourself to a blowout.
Vintage florals is one of the trends covered and is a look which has popped up everywhere in the run up to Spring, from Gok’s Clothes Roadshow to Coleen Rooney’s new collection. The first outfit is worth a total of £175, and includes a pretty Love label ruffle dress which is part of a great daytime outfit including nude accessories and an on-trend denim jacket. It just goes to show you don’t have to wear a trend from head to toe to prove your fashion credentials, and you certainly don’t have to spend a fortune to get the look.
If you’re feeling flush and want to spend a little more, the second outfit is worth a total of £446 and includes brands such as Fiorelli, Ravel and French Connection, and is based around a fab dress from super stylish Fearne Cotton and a classic trench coat from the lovely Holly Willoughby.
Two very similar looks, both perfectly reflecting the floral trend in outfits that could be worn by anyone, for any number of occasions throughout Spring.
