The first frosts arrived in the UK this week and I’m sure we weren’t the only one scraping ice off our windscreens! When it comes to winter, we all want to be cosy and wrap up after a long, hard day at work.
Banish thoughts of the harsh winter wind outside and make sure your bedroom is nice and cosy with plenty of snugly accessories to make it as comfortable and inviting as possible.
Start with the bed, as it’s the most important part of your bedroom. Get rid of your summer bedding and invest in a nice cosy winter duvet and some luxurious bedding. Silks, Egyptian cotton and even flannel are great options to keep you toasty during the winter months. The colour should also be a big consideration; darker, richer colours will immediately make the room feel warmer. In the Christmas spirit why not invest in some deep red and gold colours, like this set satin set, or perhaps opt for more modern Christmas colours like purple.
For those really chilly nights, a throw for your bed can be a great idea as it adds another layer of warmth and you can get some great cosy options in fluffy or fleecy materials, like this faux fur throw which will bring added comfort to any bed. Cushions will also add some extra softness to the room, so scatter some on your bed for those late night reading sessions. A faux fur cushion is great for cosying up with on a cold winter night.
Modern, laminate flooring is a great option for many homes but in the winter it can feel cold and unwelcoming so it might be worth checking out some rugs to keep your toes nice and cosy, rather than having to make a quick dash across the room into bed, because the floor is so chilly! I like this shaggy style rug, which is available in plenty of colours, so it should suit any room.
Lighting is also something that should be given consideration in the winter as harsh, bright lights can make a room appear cold and uninviting. Downgrade your lightbulbs to a nice soft wattage, enough to read by, but not too bright. Candles are also a great option for extra light, warmth and of course there are loads of scented options to keep your room smelling nice too. Go for spicy warm scents like cinnamon to add that extra cosy feeling!
There’s no need to be chilly this winter; make sure your bedroom is a cosy haven with some great bedroom accessories!
