Top Family Cycling Routes

Get your family active this summer and go green on two wheels by trying out some of the UK’s best, family friendly bike trails that will keep the whole family entertained and healthy.

Phoenix Trail, Oxfordshire

If you’re looking for a family friendly trail then you won’t get much better than this one which runs between Thame and Princes Risborough, Oxfordshire. The trail is flat and smooth and has seating every 500 yards, which makes it an ideal starter trail, and there are also fantastic views of the Chiltern Hills.

Haldon Forest, Devon

If you’re looking for a variety of trails for different abilities, this is the place for you. There are networks of flat trails for the whole family as well as harder paths for extreme mountain biking. The views across the Exe are brilliant, with the best view from the Mamhead Obelisk.

Melksham, Wiltshire

Melksham is magical for kids and runs along quiet country lanes and off road trails. The trail also encompasses Lacock Abbey, which has featured in the Harry Potter films, as well as the Avebury stone circle and Cherwill White Horse.

Troll Trail, Isle of Wight

With a name like Troll Trail you know that it’s going to be a good one for the kids. The trail runs between Merstone and Shide and is traffic free and well surfaced. The troll carvings and artwork along the way will keep the kids entertained.

Millennium Coastal Park, Llanelli

This is one of the nicest coastal paths in the UK and has only been open for a couple of years. It forms part of the Celtic Trail, which is part of a project that turned industrial wasteland into beautiful green spaces.

Cycling is my main hobby me and my small family. I think I found a wealth by getting to this post with all these nice routes but I think I prefer Melksham, Wiltshire route as it’s safe for my kids and it’s the nearest one to me.

I do cycling during weekends as a means of exercise and to bond with my friends as well. I found Phoenix Trail, Oxfordshire as our next best route to do cyling as it has flat and smooth and has seating every 500 yards, and the fantastic views of the Chiltern Hills.

Cycling and Extreme Mountain Biking our way of exercising and bonding with my children. This site gives me an idea on the nest routes to try and I found Haldon Forest, Devon as the best route to try.
