Find the best swimwear for your body shape

Find the best swimwear for your body shape

Summer is fast approaching and no doubt setting sail for sunny shores is top of your list. Of course there’s always a bit of a dilemma of what to pack in your suitcase and picking something to wear on the beach or in the pool is always tricky, trying to find something that looks good and is going to hide those lumps and bumps and emphasise all your best bits.

The trick is to find the best swimwear for your body shape to make sure you don’t feel self-conscious on the beach.

Are you ‘Apple’ shaped? Broad shoulders but narrow hips? Try a two-piece bikini or tankini that has a solid darker colour on top, with a patterned bottom to help give you a more balanced appearance. This blue Resort blouson tankini shorts set would be perfect!

If you’re feeling a bit self conscious about your bum being a bit too big (aren’t we all) then as you all know dark colours can be slimming and bold prints often work in the same way too. Boy-style shorts are the way to go to covering up your assets. Try a bright print on top to detract attention from your bottom half with a dark coloured bottom half to reduce the appearance of your bottom half.   This V-neck Tankini set would be brilliant for the beach and flattering too!

If you’re not blessed in the bust department and want to add some curves then try a bikini top with triangle cups or with detailing, such as a tie front, which will add to your shape up top. Details such as ruffling on this frill triangle bikini set would definitely do the job and the bright colours will make sure you really stand out.

If on the other hand you suffer from a bit too much generosity in the bust department then make sure you get some swimwear with support – whether it’s a one-piece or a bikini. Look for underwiring and wide straps for extra support. Halter tops like this shapewear halter top would be perfect as they feature both underwiring and wide, adjustable straps so you can make sure you keep your assets firmly under control.

If it’s your tummy that’s your main problem area then I would advise a slightly loose tankini rather than a bikini, which exposes your midriff, or a one-piece, which might hold it all in but doesn’t necessarily  look good doing it. A tankini with a bright pattern will draw the eye away from your stomach. Use it to emphasise your best features so if you have a great top half then go with a pattern on top, or if you have a booty that Beyonce would be jealous of then try a pattern on your bottom half. Mix it up with these Resort mix and match underwired tankini sets.

Whatever your body shape, make sure you look great on the beach this summer with some flattering swimwear that will make you feel confident and for those self conscious days cover it all up with a kaftan, handy for when you get a bit too much sun as well.
