Trend Alert: Double up on Denim

Trend Alert: Double up on Denim

It’s back! Double denim is set to top the trend lists in the new year. Don’t believe us? Just ask designers Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein or Stella McCartney; the style gurus at Vogue magazine; or celeb trend-setters Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, or BFF’s Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof – all of whom have been snapped out and about rocking denim-on-denim.

Good job there’s a new collection of denim hitting Littlewoods.com, so you can get the designer look for less! Not only that, but we’re sharing some insider tips for how to work multiple denim pieces into one great look.

Meet the new jean

The perfect pair of blue denim jeans is a staple of everyone’s wardrobe, no matter what the trends of the season are. But cool vintage style and looser fits are now giving the skinny jean a run for its money. The classic straight fit is effortlessly chic and super-comfortable – these Levi’s 714 straight jeans would be perfect for your day-to-day uniform. But pair them with a crisp white shirt, strappy heels and statement earrings, then pop on a denim jacket. Be sure to go for a different shade and finish to your jeans; Monsoon’s Enid jacket is a good pick. Voilà – you’ve got the perfect cocktail night outfit to rival any Instagram ‘It’ Girl’s!

Get in the mix

This season’s denim is all about unexpected twists and new combinations – it’s a trend you can really make your own! Why not mix up your usual look and make a wardrobe statement with fresh updates for 2018? The key is to mix textures, finishes, embellishments, and washes – try pairing super ripped jeans with a blingy top, or a light blue embellished denim shirt with indigo or leather jeans. Invest in your perfect denim jacket – like the faux-fur lined jean jacket from V by Very – and wear it with anything and everything!

Dress it up

Denim is often a timeless classic, of course – but for 2018 it’s also fashion-forward, with skirts and dresses leading the way. We’re loving the 80s-inspired shoulders and lace-up detailing on this corset denim dress, while the button-through frill-hemmed frock is a top contender for this year’s new wardrobe staple. The denim mini gets a makeover with asymmetric seams and zipper embellishments.

There are no wrong ways to create your own signature look – so get ready to break out of your denim doldrums in 2018.
