Feather Treasures | #LittlewoodsLFW

Feather adornments hearken back to the Golden Age of Hollywood: think Audrey Hepburn’s massive plumed hat in My Fair Lady or the stunning gowns of Ginger Rogers in her dance duos with Fred Astaire. For the autumn/winter 2017 season, feathers have spotted all over runways and red carpets from LA to New York to Milan. High-end couture designers including Prada, Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana have been flinging feathers down their catwalks this year, but how can the rest of us get onboard with this feathery trend? One word: shoes.

“Sounds great”, we hear you say – “but how can I make these feathered fancies tickle my tootsies?” Never fear – we’ve pulled together some exciting ideas to help show how you can feature the feather in your shoedrobe this year. Marie Antoinette would be well jell. Let’s take a look!

Casual chic: Pair the River Island marabou fur mule block heel or Miss KG’s Fifi feather mule with cropped trousers or a leather mini, a monochrome jumper and a statement bag for a contemporary update on casual elegance. Don’t be afraid to mix textures and patterns in interesting new ways – this look is perfect for a meal out with friends.

Winter holiday fun: If you’re one of the lucky ones planning a holiday to some place warm and sunny this autumn or winter, you can still make the feather trend work for you! Have a look at the River Island Jem marabou slide in luscious lilac, a fun twist on the traditional flip-flop that will be perfect with shorts or a denim mini.

Sporty kicks: Here’s a low-key way to embrace the trend whilst staying true to your sporty side: the KG Lulu Pom Pom Plimsoll in black on a chunky white flatform sole. Pair with leggings and a stripey tee for a trendy twist on your athleisure look.

Full-on vamp: Look, what’s the point of a feathered shoe if you’re not going to go all out glam at least once this season? Say hello to the sky-high heels and flirty feathers of River Island’s Barely There sandal in the most amazing shade of pink. River Island have got a wide-fit version as well, in black, with a delicate patterned black-and-gold ankle strap. Simply stunning. And Carvela’s in the mix, of course, with an edgy high-heeled sandal featuring studs around the double strap at the ankle and all the way down the seemingly endless heel. Don’t let the feathers fool you: this shoe means business, ladies.
