The Joys of Staycation

The Joys of Staycation

There’s no place like home. Staycation is all about how to make the most out of your home, turning it into the kind of oasis where you can really get away from it all – without ever really leaving. Travel is great, but sometimes we just want to skip the airport queues and do away with packing a suitcase, and skip right to the part where we’re relaxing without a care in the world.

So to help get you in the right mindset, we’ve selected a few fabulous items to help you make your home feel like a cosy B&B or a serene country cottage. There is no better time to rejuvenate your home than over the summer break – what with garden parties and the long summer evenings ahead. And all for much, much less than the cost of a holiday abroad. So what are you waiting for? Here are a couple of ideas to freshen up your Staycation paradise.

To help create a charming breakfast nook, try the 16-piece stacking dinner set in a perfect pale pink shade. With 4 each of dinner plates, side plates, bowls, and mugs, this set will make a quirky addition to your table. And putting the breakfast in bed & breakfast – it’s the Smeg 4-slice toaster in cream. Combining Smeg’s signature retro-chic design with top-of-the-line performance, this kitchen essential will help make your leisurely mornings extra-tasty.

Once you’ve made the most (or the least) of your morning, at some point you’ll want to move outside for a beverage al fresco. And we’ve got just the festive, summer-y jars to do it, too. These handled glass jars from Kilner are positively festooned with bunting – and just waiting for some lemonade, iced tea or punch (or whatever the Spirit of Staycation moves you to mix up a pitcher of).

Of course you’ll want to decorate the table too, so we’re nominating this uniquely charming pineapple pot, from the uniquely charming Fearne Cotton. It’s an absolutely gorgeous and bang-on-trend shade of blue, and it will liven up any dining or side table in your home. And to shed a little light on the subject, there’s the Casa Table Lamp, to cast a warm, welcoming glow over any room – we’re thinking especially a garden gazebo or sunroom. Finally, we guarantee that placing a few of these vintage-chic floral cushions on your garden furniture, bed, sofa or even your kitchen chairs will make you feel light and airy and – dare we say it – relaxed.

Here’s to a happy, relaxing Staycation state of mind, all summer long!
