Get The Kids Into Tennis

Wimbledon is here, and we couldn’t be more excited at Littlewoods HQ. Andy Murray is defending his championship (come on!) so, understandably, there are plenty of reasons to have your eyes glued to the screen from 23rd June to 6th July. It’s also a great time to get the kids involved. Whether they’ve never watched a tennis match in their life or are hardcore Andy fans, we know just the things to get them feeling inspired.

The best thing to do is book a court and take your family along, sportsgear in tow. We’ve got junior tennis rackets such as the Babolat Ballfighter 17 Junior Tennis Racket – it offers a quick visual reference for children to remember correct hand positions and is ideal for beginners aged three years and over. There’s also the BABOLAT Pure Junior 25 Tennis Racket; a design for slightly older kids, allowing them to further their skills. But don’t forget your racket! We’ve got the Wilson Blade Lite 101 Tennis Racket among others, so you can show them how it’s done.

A spot of tennis wouldn’t be complete without tennis balls, and we love the Slazenger 2013 Wimbledon Tennis Ball (1 Dozen) – what could be better? Getting the kids together with all of your equipment isn’t an easy feat either, so pop it all together with our Babolat Team Line Backpack. It comes in three colours and includes an 18-litre capacity, racket holder with grip protection, two pockets for accessories, a large pocket for clothes and two side pockets.

Sport definitely starts at home, however. In between watching the BBC for Wimbledon coverage, how about playing Garden Tennis with youngsters outside? It’s a great way to get tots involved, plus they get to enjoy the beautiful weather. There’s also the fantastic Nintendo Wii Mario Power Tennis for any rainy days that may occur.
