If you’re feeling rather fed up with your home then now’s the perfect time to supply it with an update, what with ‘spring cleaning’ and an out-with-the-old-in-with-the-new notion that comes with this time of year. But instead of splashing out on redecorating, simply splurge on a few bits and pieces that can completely change a room’s appearance; or at least give it a little uplift. Read on for some of our favourite spring/summer 2013 homeware products, which all centre on this season’s romanticism…
Let’s start with wall art. Having a feature piece on display can breathe a new lease of life into a room and we love the 5-piece Sunset Split Canvas Wall Art. This modern piece allows you to admire a magnificent sunset at any time of day. For a similar worldly feel opt for the Graham & Brown Antique World Map Print On Canvas – not only does it produce a beautifully vintage aesthetic, but it’ll have you daydreaming about your next holiday too.
Another great way to make use of blank space is with plants. The Artificial Bay Tree would look great in a corner somewhere – and you can always place it inside a more decorative pot too. A little space is good though – having a clutter-free home is great for mind, body and soul. It also allows your coffee table to have something decorative rather than be dumped with bits and bobs – how about the Buddha Head or the Marrakech Lantern?
If you think your storage is looking a little drab then have a play with shape and texture. The Arrow Weave Wicker Chest – Natural is circular and features a plaited wicker design; ideal for a bedside table or next to an armchair for storing magazines. And it’s unbelievable how much new bedding can transform your bedroom. We love the Patchwork Throw for its gorgeous colour palette and character.
The Marseille Overmantle Mirror (which comes in gold, silver or white) would look great over a fireplace because it creates more space – far cheaper than an extension wouldn’t you say? It’s definitely the little things that count. Add the Crystal Beaded Glass Drop Tie-backs (pair) to your curtains for a bit of decoration. Spend very little and get creative too – how about buying the Personalised Mr and Mrs Mugs (or any mug for that matter) and place some tealights inside them?
