The A list of British television were out in force last night for the annual 2012 Bafta Awards, and as ever, our attention was firmly on the red (and white and blue) carpet.
And one trend that caught our eye is one that we posted about right here not so long ago (the celebs must read LW Blog) – it’s the summer metallics trend. And what a night to show off this look on the red carpet, shimmering gold was the perfect option for the summer sun we’ve been enjoying lately…
Our favourite metallics look just had to be the stunning number worn by TV presenter Jenny Falconer, who wowed in this floor length gold metallic dress with a hint of a fishtail which showed off her stunning curves to full effect.
Also taking the metallics lead was Eastender’s actress Jaqueline Jossa, otherwise known as Lauren Branning, Silent Witness star Emilia Fox and the always on-trend Fearne Cotton, who all took their own take on the trend from a subtle and understated gold thread top (Emilia) to a full on gold metallic maxi with statement sleeves (Fearne).
It’s been one of our favourite trends since Christmas when you can never have too much shimmer, and we love how it’s become and all-year-round look, it just all depends on the shade, the style and what you wear it with. Glitzy gold always looks good with white for a summer update and we think the Teatro pencil dress mixes the two particularly well. Wearing a laid back tee with jeans is always a cool, casual look but the sequins add an edge of glam – the South trophy tee is the perfect example. If sequins still feel a bit to overdressed, metallic fabrics are the best way of incorporating this trend in to your wardrobe without overdoing the shine. The Teatro metallic dress is exactly what we’re talking about – glam, on trend but fabulously understated all at the same time.
So don’t be scared to add some shine to your wardrobe, it’s a savvy summer buy that may even see you through to Christmas!
