Despite luxe sportswear gracing the catwalks for Spring Summer 2012 as a key trend, it’s not always the easiest look to pull off. Get it wrong and you just look like you’re off to the gym; get it right and you’ll be the hottest fashionista in town! We really like an offshoot of the luxe sportswear trend, sporty brights, which are a little easier to wear and can be teamed with a host of different wardrobe staples to keep your outfit looking fresh, funky and as far away from exercise as possible.
Our first look for the sporty brights trend isn’t for the fainthearted, but despite the powerful prints and bold colours, it can still look stylish and co-ordinated. The Miss Sixty Lhaily Knitted Strappy Dress features some gorgeous body con details, like the coloured straps, along with bold colour pops of red, yellow and blue. Pair with an equally as striking handbag, like the Stripe Clutch in orange and black, then finish the look with a pair of co-ordinating shoes that picks up one colour from the dress: we really love the Clarks Onslow Beat Ankle Strap Platforms in Coral, which look fabulous with or without tights. It’s a super-fashionable look that will really set you apart from the crowd!
Our second look combines two different trends – sporty brights and pastels – to show you how even super-fashionable items can work together and with the rest of your wardrobe. Pick a sporty brights staple that focuses on just one or two colours: here, we’ve chosen the vivid Love Label Scuba Bodycon Dress in purple and black. This key item can be dressed up or down easily, as well as paired with black to keep your look sophisticated. Or, if you’re a true fashionista, add items from the popular pastel trend, like the fondant-coloured Modalu Pippa Leather Grab Bag, to really make your outfit pop! For practical style, choose some wedge heeled trainers, like the Ash Cool Calf Wedge Trainers in light rose: bang on trend and wearable too.
Our final look for the sporty brights trend combines a dress in a bold colour with nude and neutral accessories, giving it a stylish grown-up edge without losing any of the impact that comes from the sporty brights trend. We really like the South Textured Racerback Bodycon Dress in cobalt blue as a wardrobe staple for this trend, as it’s easily paired with lots of different trends and accessories. Keep your look simple and structured with plain, neutral accessories. The Oversized Canvas Shopper keeps the look casual, and pair with the Cairo Clubmaster Sunglasses for sunny days. For shoes, the Rockport Zelia Wedge Shoes are perfect: a hint of sportswear trend thanks to the mesh uppers, in a fashionable and versatile colour, and with just enough of a heel to make your legs look even longer!
Why not have a look at the other items in our sporty brights trend and see which would be your favourite?
