The new Sony Xperia S Smartphone

If there was ever a Smartphone that could do pretty much everything you ever imagined, this is it. Whether it’s taking high definition photos or videos, connecting to the web, accessing movies and music, gaming, it’s all there and all in HD. Oh, and of course you can make a good old phone call and send a text!

Without getting too technical, here just some of the key features:

  • 4.3” HD Reality display
  • 12MP fast capture camera
  • full HD 1080p video shooting
  • Sony Entertainment Network for access to online movies and music
  • 32Gb internal memory

Sony are launching this phone with the fan fair it deserves, so you’re bound to see an advert or two here and there, and it’s all based around the idea of ‘Imagine’…

“Imagine watching a video and feeling like you were right there. Imagine capturing a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. Imagine crystal clear gaming…”

Say no more, Sony, we’re imagining and we can’t wait to get our hands on one. And this is your chance to get your hands on one too, as we’ve got one of these fab Smartphones in black to give away to one lucky LW Blog reader.

The smartphone will take over the world! It will be used for paying for everything, so no need for credit/debit cards. Will instantly be able to book concert tickets, travel details etc (including airport check in!). It will carry all your details including driving licence, passport etc. Just don’t lose it – yikes!

Oh goodness, I can’t even imagine what technology will be like in 5 years as it’s developing so fast! I reckon it will be able to remotely control almost everything … with high security. You can probably set your food to cook in time for you to get home, have it drive your car for you and I bet it will be super duper small and miraculously flip open into a huge screen when you want it!

Smartphones of the future will be amazing. They will be ultra thin and weigh very little. Batteries will be the size of a small computer chip and able to last for a few days without charge. I imagine smartphones of the future being used for almost everything, from paying for shopping in a supermarket by scanning a receipt number to being used for conferences on a large scale. It will be able to control your tv remotely by voice and show you what you would look like in the latest fashion by simply taking a photo of the clothes.

The smartphone industry is about to explode and the technology we will see will be anything beyond our imagination.

  14. Posted by Viv Gilbey on March 18, 2012

I think you’d use Smartphones as forms of tickets so for buses, trains and planes you’d just show your phone! Also used to pay for things rather than cards or cash.

    brilent phone

  16. Posted by Dee Burwell on March 18, 2012

I think the smartphone of the future will link up with everything else in the house. Maybe you’ll get a text from the fridge to remind you to buy milk, or you can send an instruction to the oven to heat up. That would be brilliant.

  17. Posted by Jill on March 18, 2012

Doing work on them instead of going to an office.ordering and tracking parcels and taxis. Checking in on planes- the possibilities are limitless!

  18. Posted by Si on March 18, 2012

In 5 years time a smartphone will be fully integrated into our lives, it will connect to your fridge and oven so you can check whats in the fridge for dinner and turn the oven on remotely. TV on demand will be king as smartphone technology will have compressed data so it becomes very cheap for people to watch on smartphones.
Augmented reality will provide everything from seeing if a new tv will go in your lounge to guiding you on a tour of major cities, either when you are there, pointing out landmarks and interesting facts or even from the comfort of your bed, itchy feet will never be itchy for long!
The NHS will also provide Dr’s on live video chats, thus reducing the cost of running dr’s surgeries, especially for routine medicine reviews or general health checkups.
Obviously cashless payments will be the way most transactions are made, using nfc to automatically add purchases to your mobile bill.
In 5 years time we’ll have a whole new generation of smartphones with more and more technologically advanced users.

In The future a smart phone will only do what it is told to do. Technology will never be able to predict what will happen. My Arc s is great and does everything I want it to do. Best phone I have ever had and can only get better.

  42. Posted by Gary Wilson-Garner on March 18, 2012

In 5 years time, the smartphone will have replaced the credit card and it will be possible to purchase goods with a simply swipe or touch of your phone close to the payment point.

Batteries will finally move forward and there will never be a need to plug the phone in to recharge. As long as it is within range of a charging station, it will charge over-the-air and will last over a week on one charge even under heavy use.

  43. Posted by Stephen Kurtianyk on March 18, 2012

I expect smartphone use in the next 5 years will be to control much more of our daily lives. such as instead of carrying coins, We will be using smartphones, For example going into resturant and paying using our smart phone. I think phones will have much more virtual reality such as designing rooms, hairstyles, gardens. It will control pretty much our lives.

  44. Posted by Carol Sutherland on March 18, 2012

Smartphones in 5 years time will be integrated into everyday life. I believe they will be able to turn on items in your house by setting alarm functions for them. There will be a app for doing your laundry while at work (you still have to load the machine beforehand though sorry) the coffee maker/kettle will start to boil at the first ring of your morning alarm. Tv set to go on as and when you want at the click of a button. Useful if on holiday and you rely on timer switches. House phones will become a thing of the past.

In 5 years time I think smart phones will be able to teleport you to where ever you want to go removing the need for any other form of transport and saving the cost of running a car catching a bus/train/plane.You will also be able to teleport goods to any destination.

  46. Posted by Lisa Medley on March 18, 2012

I imagine being able to use my mobile as a credit/debit card being able to turn aircon or heating on in house and car when needed and the oven on when on the way home and the kettle a few minutes before arrive. As a projector that gave full 3d video calling would be great as well

  47. Posted by K W on March 18, 2012

I expect smartphones will be used more to pay for items while out and about, being able to transmit details to the machine taking payment in the immediate vicinity in a similar way to some cards being used now. There will probably be some experimenting with driving vehicles using a smartphone. I look forward to better gaming using smartphones, and much improved hardware so I can do even more of the same things as on the laptop/desktop, but in miniature!

  48. Posted by Amy Warbrick on March 18, 2012

You will be able to walk into any clothes shop or restaurant and be able to simply tap your phone against the till to pay and walk out. And you will be able to simply board a plane with one swift tap and no more standing in long check in line. X
