If you watched this year’s Pride of Britain Awards you might remember the Littlewoods.com Young Fundraiser of the Year winner, seven year old George Major, who has done a fabulous job of raising a whopping £20,000 (and counting) for a hospital in Reading.
And as an extra treat for this special boy, we organised a little visit from Father Christmas to surprise him and the other young children at John Ratcliffe Children’s Hospital in Oxford along with his special helpers, TV’s Dick and Dom. And we were very happy to have it all caught on camera as they arrived with a sack full of gifts for all the excited children.
For the past two years George has been in and out of hospital for gruelling acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment. Yet through sheer determination and bravery, he started a fundraising campaign called George’s Marvellous Medicine Fund, and has now raised well over £20,000 in aid of charities close to his heart. Thankfully George is now in remission, but his chemotherapy treatment will continue for at least another year to reduce the risk of the cancer returning.
As proud sponsors of Pride of Britain, we were honoured not only to give George his award to celebrate his amazing achievements but also to organise this special visit to him and the other children so close to Christmas.
Here’s a little photo gallery of the day, head on over to our You Tube channel now to see it unfold, and if that doesn’t get you in the Christmas spirit, then nothing will!
