Congratulations to our Day 5 winner – Jane Barrett you have won the French Connection Jacket!
The Five Day Challenge has now ended, thanks to everyone for getting involved and watch this space for another Challenge as we hope to run another one soon!
We’ve asked our lovely menswear buyer, Dorothy, to be the first person to take on our Five Day Littlewoods Challenge. Find out more about the challenge here, and read on to see how Dorothy got on in the last day of her challenge and find out how you can be in a winner in today’s giveaway!
The last item I had to wear from my eight pieces was the Vila Animal Print tunic, which I had been unsure about when I was first given it but after seeing Camilla wearing it on Day One I hadn’t been too worried!
The only reason I was unsure was because I wouldn’t normally wear animal print, and this is quite a bold, statement piece which I wasn’t sure I’d be able to pull off. So I knew straight away that I wanted to dress it down – I’m sure it would look lovely dressed up with some heels and bold jewellery but it suited my personal style much more to wear it in a more laid back way. So I wore it over some black skinny jeans (absolute fail-safes, you can never go wrong with black skinnies!) and the Dune pumps I wore on Day One.
I wasn’t able to get a full image as I was on my way out of the house and my little girl insisted on being in the photo! But you can see that the top is actually much longer than it looks in the pictures which suits me fine as I feel much more comfortable in longer tops when I’m wearing my skinny jeans, and I’d even wear this over leggings at the weekends.
While I do still think top is quite a statement I actually felt really confident when I was wearing it, there’s something about the rich colours that makes it look really stylish and the oversized shape makes it really comfortable, perfect for dress down Fridays!
I actually got more wear out of two of my other key pieces, as I went out for a meal with some friends and thought it was the perfect opportunity to wear the French Connection dress from Day One. Just by adding some tights, heel and gold earrings this dress felt completely different and was ideal for a night out. I also added the French Connection jacket which is great for throwing on over dressy outfits, it broke up the busy print and gave it a really smart edge, which I balanced out by using a large leather tote bag that I had bought myself from Littlewoods. If I was going for a proper night out I’d pull out a sparkly clutch, but this was just a quiet meal and I felt really comfortable and perfectly dressed for where I was going.
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed doing the Five Day Challenge. There was only one piece I would have considered buying at first (the Nougat cardigan) and by the end of the week I’d be happy to wear any of these items again and will probably stock up on a few myself as I know I’d get so much wear out of them. It’s definitely given me confidence to try new styles and I see now how valuable ‘key pieces’ can be – investing in a versatile item is the way forward when we don’t want to be spending too much money on our wardrobe, so that’s definitely something I’ll be looking out for next time I’m shopping!
