Day 2
I was actually looking forward to trying the French Connection shirt as I’m not normally much of a shirt person, I’m not keen on too formal styles so tend to stay away from tops like this. But this was a total surprise and not what I expected when I saw I was being given a shirt! The silk material is such a lovely quality and is so light that it drapes really nicely and kept me really cool and comfortable. I just pushed the sleeves up and dressed down the rest of my outfit so it looked really relaxed and was much more my style.
I tried it on with a few different pairs of trousers from my wardrobe and it actually looked really nice with them all. It’s quite a long length shirt so it looked good hanging loose over skinny jeans, but because the fabric is so soft it was also easy to tuck in and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, so I decided to wear it tucked in to the skinny combats that I’d been given as one of my key pieces.
I was in the office all day and got loads of compliments on the outfit, which I wore with mid wedge sandals to give me a bit of height and make it all look a bit more summery. The shirt was really light and cool despite wearing long sleeves on a warm day, and the trousers were so comfortable I could happily wear them every day - they sit really well on the waist (not too low) and they held their shape too, they didn’t go baggy at the knee like some trousers do when you spend a lot of time sitting down.
I’ll definitely be getting a pair of my own combats after this as they can be dressed up with heels and dressed down with flats, so they already go with so much in my wardrobe. I also love the zip detail, which can be opened to widen the ankle making them slightly less skinny towards the bottom of the leg.
I think the shirt would be a really good investment buy, French Connection is always such good quality, and even though the silk would need to be well looked after it’s the kind of top you could keep for years and it would never go out of style.
