Although having a ‘barbie’ might be seen as being the realm of the Aussies, there’s nothing we Brits like more than sizzling sausages and burgers on a barbeque in the summer sunshine. When we had the last period of lovely weather not long ago, the smell of barbeques being lit took over towns everywhere in the UK, and we’re desperately hoping for another spell of sunshine soon, so get your garden ready for a barbeque and start planning your menu!
Picking which barbeque you need can be tricky, but essentially it’s all a matter of space. Not got much of that? Opt for a compact one like this 18” round kettle grill, or go for something you can pop on the patio/grass with this even small 16” version.
If space isn’t so much of an issue, have a think about how many people you’ll need to cook for and buy your barbeque accordingly – we love this Anthony Worrall Thompson one, with its handy side tables, perfect for all your tools, and extra plates. Brilliant for when you’re entertaining.
Speaking of outdoor utensils, if you’re thinking of having a few people over then the last thing you want is a broken plate or glass – not only can it ruin your crockery, but it means a big clean up jobs so that no one gets anything stuck in their feet, should anything break. Solve the problem with some pretty plastic plates. We love this funky floral set from Epicurean which is cute and practical too.
If your garden is short on places to sit, then it might be time to drag the garden furniture out of the shed and dust it off, but if you’ve had it around for a while and it really is falling to bits, then it might be time to think about investing in something new!
For something traditional, stick to a classic wooden design, complete with a sun umbrella of course, like this Cotswold 5-piece set while more urban homemakers might prefers the clean lines of this Madrid set. For larger gatherings, you’ll need more chairs of course and if you have the space, we have plenty of options here at Littlewoods. Check out our garden furniture department for more inspiration!
Now you’re prepared for those sunny summer days, fire up the barbeque and get the family round for a good old knees up in the back garden!
