Everyone’s talking about the biggest wedding of the year – Yes, our very own Prince William and his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton are finally tying the knot in exactly a week’s time, and it’s got the whole of the UK feeling patriotic and throwing parties left, right and centre.
If you’re getting in on the act and celebrating the biggest royal wedding in years this bank holiday, then do it in style with our party must-haves!
With all the great weather we’ve been having recently, a garden party is a very real possibility – get your home painted white, red and blue (not literally!) with some colourful decorations, and if you’re going all out on the patriotism then this Royal Wedding bunting is the perfect addition to show your support, or perhaps opt for a traditional Union Jack and fly the flag for Britain!
Parties need food, and all that wedding build up will mean that everyone has a big appetite. Bake some royal inspired cakes (how about strawberry cakes with cream or a classic Victoria Sponge?) and make a feature of them with some fun royal wedding cake stands – after all, what is a wedding without cake? Don’t forget to stock up on paper plates and napkins, to keep things nice and tidy – and to save on the washing up!
If you’re in the mood for something more substantial and are having a few people over to celebrate the union of Wills and Kate (or to celebrate a day off work!) then you might want to consider a good old barbeque. Settle down to watch the wedding procession with a juicy burger or have a sausage to be going on with – just make sure you have a barbeque ready to cater for your guests. If we are blessed with a sunny day, or, more likely, if it’s looking like there might be rain, then prepare your garden with a gazebo, so you don’t have to cram everyone inside the house when we’re hit by an unexpected rain shower.
Ladies, you might well be inspired by Kate’s regal style – she is a thoroughly modern princess after all, so if you fancy dressing up for the occasion then take a look at our Kate-inspired wardrobe selection so you can dress like a princess too. We here at Littlewoods Blog HQ can’t wait to get a peek at what the lucky lady will be wearing on her big day!
