Bank Holiday DIY Mania

Bank Holiday DIY Mania

Bank holidays – we all love them because our working weeks are shorter (hooray!) and we get more time to enjoy the sunshine (if there is any) and catch up on all those jobs we never seem to find the time to do on a normal weekend. One of the biggies for a bank holiday weekend is DIY – after all when else will you get the time to paint the spare room, redecorate the lounge, fix those kitchen cabinets or hang those curtains you’ve had sitting in the cupboard for months?

If you want to make the most of your bank holiday by getting in some DIY and revamping a room, then check out our home trends section for inspiration. Here at Blog HQ we’re getting in the Spring spirit, so there’s lots of bright colours and florals to brighten up your home.

Personally, I love the Teals & Greens theme – it just smacks of summer, and lets you bring the outside in. If you want to get in touch with your natural side, here are some top picks of quick and easy ways to brighten things up in summery teals, sky blues and leafy greens.

1. Change your wallpaper

For the more DIY friendly amongst you, hanging statement wallpaper on one wall for a bold look is a quick and easy way of changing the look of your room entirely. Get some flower power with this sophisticated Pippa wallpaper, which is perfect for brightening things up a little.

2. Add some Art

Decorating a room with a fun, bright print is a great way to add some character to any room. For a fresh, nature inspired look stick to vibrant greens and blues that will complement most existing colour schemes by adding a flash of colour. We love this 3 piece canvas, which will add a striking feature to your chosen room.

3. Open the Windows

If you want to get that natural feeling indoors, then opening the window is a great way to invite fresh grassy smells and floral scents into a room. To do that though you need to open the curtains and if you want a fresh new look for a room you can brighten things up with some new curtains. Try some nature inspired ones, like these leafy print ones from Amorini, or brighten things up with a bold print.

4. Make yourself comfortable

There’s no point revamping a room with impractical, fashionable sofas and furniture that you’ll never use!  Chances are you’ll already have most of this, but if you want a space to call your own, curl up in a vibrant, comfy chair in a bright print – try this Kenzo tub chair – and feel like you’re in the garden, even when it’s raining.

5. Accessorise!

All you ladies out there will know just how important accessorising is – after all they can make or break an outfit, and the same is true for your home. Any room can be dressed up with the help of a few carefully chosen accessories. The living room can be jazzed up with a pretty rug or some comfy cushions.  Meanwhile the bathroom can be given a mini makeover with some coordinating accessories and the help of a few new towels to fit in with your new colour scheme. No matter what the room, a few bright accessories can give it a whole new look!
