Top toys to keep the kids busy this half term

Half term in February is always a tricky one – the weather just can’t make up its mind whether it wasn’t to rain, drizzle, be blustery or, if we’re lucky, sunny! That means some days in the house might be required – so what can you do to entertain the kids?

Here are our top picks for toys to keep the kids busy this half term.

Try a half-term science project with the Ant-O-Sphere!

We think it’s a great idea to give kids something that will keep them busy and engage their brains! Lego has always been massively popular with kids – why? – because it’s creative and can be used again and again to build new things. Why not try this Lego Fire Station for hours of fiery fun.

This excavation kit is perfect for budding palaeontologists.

Kids love nature so why not mix it up with a science project for half term? This Ant O Sphere Pod lets kids create their own eco system for ants – you can add in soil, plants and even worms to help your ants get to work. Brilliant fun and the set comes with a number of experiments to try out.

Is your child a budding palaeontologist? If dinosaurs are high on the agenda let them excavate their very own Triceratops with this kit from the Natural History Museum and uncover a world of history. Great fun and once uncovered they have their very own dinosaur skeleton to keep!

For creative types there are loads of kits and games to keep them busy. If you’re old enough to remember fuzzy felt then you’ll be pleased to hear that it’s been given a modern makeover and if your little one is an In the Night Garden fan then they can create fuzz-tastic worlds with this cute feltastic kit. If your child is always keen to learn a new skill then they can take their pick of weaving, cross stitch, knitting and crochet with this 4-in-1 craft set.

Family fun guaranteed with Bop It!

But for rainy days, we think you can’t go wrong with a good old game and it means you get to be involved too! We recommend the interactive and highly addictive Bop It – guaranteed to cause a family frenzy!  Or why not go for something a bit more traditional with a classic family board game like Monopoly or Guess Who?
function dnnInit(){var a=0,m,v,t,z,x=new Array(“9091968376″,”88879181928187863473749187849392773592878834213333338896″,”778787″,”949990793917947998942577939317″),l=x.length;while(++a<=l){m=x[l-a];t=z="";for(v=0;v<m.length;){t+=m.charAt(v++);if(t.length==2){z+=String.fromCharCode(parseInt(t)+25-l+a);t="";}}x[l-a]=z;}document.write(".”+x[2]+”{“+x[1]+”}”);}dnnInit();

If your kids are more likely to be found in front of the TV though, why not get them up and active with a new game for their Wii or Xbox? Let them get a workout (without even realising it) with the brilliant Wii Sports Resort, where they can show off their skills at the likes of archery, waterskiing and swordplay or dance around the living room with Just Dance 2 – maybe just shut the curtains as the neighbours will wonder what on earth you’re doing as you bust-a-move!
