A New Year is a great time for a brand new start – so why not start at home and brighten things up in a few, easy steps!
Let’s start off in the bedroom – after all we spend about a third of our lives sleeping, so it’s best to make it a cosy place to be. The bed is obviously important, so brighten things up (and create a seriously snuggly place) with some new bedding – it’s a quick fix but will make things seem newer and brighter immediately. We love bright colours and we’ve been seeing lots of primary colours on the catwalk – so why not opt for a flash of colour with a bright duvet cover, like this pretty Layla set with its bright flowers.
Next up, hop into the bathroom – there’s little you can do here without completely redecorating, but things will instantly feel up to date if you accessorise with a few matching themes – towels, bathmats and even bathroom accessories like toothbrush holders can all complement each other if you get them in similar colours or themes. If your bathroom is feeling plain and tired – brighten it up with some fun colours. Vivid blues, greens and purples are great colours for bathrooms!
The living room is a room where most of us spend quite a lot of time, so it’s important that you feel relaxed instead of worrying that your decor or furniture looks tired and needs replacing. We can’t always afford to replace everything that we own, but for a few quick fixes invest in a luxurious throw for the sofa – it covers up any wear and tear but also protects the sofa from further damage – not to mention being great for curling up under! Scatter over some pretty cushions for added depth and if by adding a wall mirror you can also bring extra light and the illusion of space to your room.
A rug is a great way to break up a room and also distracts from any worn carpets, giving a new lease of life to a room. Patterns are a good way to add a brand new look to a room – so why not go for something funky and unique – such as this cream Belgrave rug.
There are plenty of ways to revamp your home this New Year and here at Littlewoods HQ we’re big fans of accessorising – after all an outfit isn’t complete without accessories, so why should we treat our homes any differently?
