Here at Littlewoods Blog HQ we all know that everyday can throw up a new fashion dilemma – whether it’s a broken heel, what to wear to meet the potential in-laws or what to wear when you’re expecting. But one dilemma that’s got us thinking is the age old work outfits that can be transformed into a plausible after-work drinks look.
Yes, if your Friday evenings are spent with colleagues nipping for an after work drink – how do make sure that you are not hot and stuffy in your workwear, or too formal for a casual drink?
We’ve put together some fab looks that will get you from the office to the bar in a few easy steps.
Take one classic black dress, add some killer heels and some sparkly accessories. For a feminine twist I love this ribbon tie necklace – lots of sparkle, and definitely something you wouldn’t see in the office.
If you have to suit up for the office then it can be a bit more difficult to transform your look – if you’re wearing a skirt or trouser suit you can ditch the jacket (too formal and restricting) and take a spare top for some added glam, as a shirt will be too formal and a cami top without the jacket might seem too revealing/casual. Keep things smart but fun with this cute bow detail blouse or, embellishment is a big trend for Spring so you could also add some sparkle with this beaded swing top. Team with some nude heels for an elegant but definitely-not-work look.
If you’re lucky enough to be able to wear jeans to your office, or you have dress down Fridays then starting out with a pair of dark wash jeans is a definite must, as they are far smarter than light washes, and steer clear of any ripped/distressed styles. Pretty much anything goes with jeans –but we’re loving the lace trend that is everywhere right now. Transform a regular vest top with a cute lace bolero and some vintage style jewellery like this vintage charm necklace and don’t forget to dress your feet with some pretty colourful heels (conveniently stashed in your office drawer).
Don’t forget to put a mini make-up kit in your bag to have a touch up before you go to the pub. And of course – the final addition is to let your hair down – a spritz of hairspray and a smidge of perfume and you are ready for the bar.
With a few simple tricks you can easily head from the office to the bar!
